Recognizing Women’s History Month

By: Kayla Orange

Women's History Month is observed each year, in March. Established by President Jimmy Carter in 1978, Women's History Month is a time set aside to recognize and commemorate the roles and contributions of women throughout history. In addition, Women's History Month is a time to acknowledge the thousands of ways women of all cultures have provided healing and hope throughout history. "Providing Healing & Promoting Hope" is the theme of Women's History Month 2022. This year, people worldwide will celebrate the many contributions of female caregivers and frontline workers.

2022's theme not only recognizes the continual efforts of women, but also pays tribute to the ongoing work of caregivers and frontline workers during the pandemic. In addition, the theme proudly honors those who provide healing and promote hope for the betterment of all in their professional and private life.

Influential Women

Today, women make up approximately 70% of the Healthcare workforce globally. These extraordinary women include doctors, surgeons, nurses, nursing assistants, therapists, personal care aides and others who provide care and treatment in a medical setting. Long considered a man's job, women like Elizabeth Blackwell, the first female doctor of medicine in the U.S., and Rebecca Lee Crumpler, the first African-American female doctor, changed the face of medicine worldwide.

Historically, women have played an integral role in delivering healthcare during some of the most perilous times. This month, and every month, we salute the women that continue to forge ahead and make the necessary sacrifices to ensure the health and well-being of all. We are also proud to say that our caregivers epitomize the theme "providing healing, promoting hope" in every way.

365 days a year, Royal Care home health aides not only provide top-notch, personal care to our clients but do so in a way that shows genuine care and concern. Throughout the pandemic, they have been the frontline workers who have graciously served their communities, offering healing and hope to some of our most vulnerable citizens. In addition, while many healthcare services have become available remotely, home health aides have continued to provide direct, in-person services to their clients, displaying immense courage and determination to continue providing the absolute best quality of home healthcare.

Home health aides give so much of themselves to enhance the lives of those entrusted in their care.
