By Kayla Orange

At Royal Care, we pride ourselves on offering the best professional home care experience, not only for our elderly clients but also for our caregivers. So, as we head into the new year, we’re eager to explore new ways of supporting our dedicated caregivers and continue expanding our benefit programs. In addition to providing free health insurance, paid leave, and social services, we’re proud to offer caregivers an extensive perks program and courses for professional advancement.

Whether you’re currently a caregiver or you’d just like to learn more about the benefits we offer, you’re in the right place. Keep reading as we take you through our caregiver benefits program and how to apply if you’re interested in joining the Royal Care community.

Paid Sick Days & Paid Vacation Days

All Royal Care employees are eligible for paid sick leave and paid vacation days. So, if you’re not feeling well or need a few days to yourself, you can enjoy some time off without having it affect your next paycheck. Caregivers are free to use their vacation time as they wish. However, paid sick leave is commonly used for:

·      Illness or health emergency

·      To care for a family member

·      To care for a child whose school or care provider is unavailable or temporarily closed

For every hour worked, caregivers earn .033 hours of sick pay and .013 hours paid vacation. You can accumulate up to 1.5 weeks of paid sick leave and 1 week of 30 hours paid vacation each year, for a total of 2.5 weeks paid time off. Best of all, up to 30 hours of unused vacation hours can be rolled into the next calendar year!

Choose Your Own Benefits!

At Royal, our team is passionate about care – for our patients and our staff. Your well-being is important, and you should have insurance that helps you maintain a healthy lifestyle. For each hour that our caregivers work, $3.40 goes toward their choice of a Melody Benefits Card or Health Insurance.

Health Insurance

For caregivers who choose Health Insurance, $2.40 per hour worked will be applied towards health insurance, and the extra $1.00 will be applied towards a Melody Benefits Card (more on that below). At Royal Care, our caregivers enjoy FREE full health insurance, FREE dental care, and FREE vision care. Employees may also receive health insurance for their children until age 26.

We offer three insurance plans (high, medium, and low) to suit various budgets. If you choose employee-only coverage, Royal Care pays 100% of your premium. In that case, all three plans cost the same – absolutely nothing! However, if you select the employee-plus children coverage, you will be required to pay a monthly premium, which is different for each plan.

Benefits Card

For caregivers who choose the Melody Benefits Card, the entire $3.40 per hour worked can be applied to this card. Employees can use these benefits in many ways, including transportation, childcare, health, and beauty services. You can also use the benefits card for a cell phone bill payment of up to $100 per month and most medical expenses, such as lab bills, treatment or prevention of disease, medical equipment, and diagnostic devices. U@Royal Perks Program

One of our most innovative and newest perks for caregivers is our U@Royal Perks Program and U@ROYAL Lounge facilities. Currently offered in Brooklyn, Bronx, and Queens, these lounges are meant to be your oasis away from the outside world and the perfect place to meet your fellow caregivers or spend some time alone and relax. Of course, you can also rest assured that all U@ROYAL Perks locations follow strict CDC guidelines for COVID-19 protection.

We offer several complimentary services at each lounge location, including beauty treatments (hairstyling, manicures, make up application and facials), technology advancement courses, ESL classes, and professional development and continuing education courses. These services are completely free for our caregivers, and we encourage you to take advantage of them!

This year, we’ve already introduced more add-ons for caregivers, such as 401K, Netspend, and Aflac. Learn more about these additional benefits below:

401k –

Royal Care knows how important it is to save for the future. That’s why we have added a 401k program to help our employees invest in their retirement.

Netspend –

Netspend allows our caregivers to receive direct deposits on a pay card instead of a traditional pay card. This gives you the option to cash out before payday!

Aflac –

Aflac pays for what health insurance doesn’t cover; accidents, short-term disabilities, hospital stays, and more!

We’re always looking to add more benefits for our growing team of committed employees! To learn more about the benefits we offer to our home health aides, please click here.
